Network with Community
NAGAR will continue to initiate interaction with the Community enabling the creation of a groundswell resulting in effective advocacy.
- Building upon existing relations with concerned stakeholders – citizens in the community, CBOs, NGOs to share ideas and discuss current issues and solutions
- Preparing and disseminating of information leaflets on relevant topics
- Organizing regular public meetings with local Corporators and residents
- Addressing area-specific issues and executing projects/campaigns accordingly
Engage Authorities
This is something that NAGAR has effectively used in the past to advocate for better governance. As said above, it is imperative to build upon this to take it to a new level using NAGAR’s existing knowledge base and command of the situation on the ground to successfully advocate with the concerned authorities – bureaucrats, officials, politicians - at all levels of government. Capacity-building will make NAGAR the nodal NGO that Government speaks with on a regular basis about pertinent issues particularly when it is taking citizen opinion into consideration. It is possible that to ensure this NAGAR may have to resort to legal intervention.
External Relations
Consolidating its relationship with the electronic and the print media, NAGAR will more effectively catalyze change towards better governance by exerting collective/public pressure on the authorities. A coherent and targeted approach for public and media relations is on the anvil with the help of a professional external relations agency, and resources raised and allocated for this purpose. This includes branding, PR, events, improved visibility and presence for each of NAGAR’s programs and leveraging existing relationships with media – radio, television, press and social media - to garner interest and support for NAGAR’s initiatives.
